Maureen Barker joins Rotary
President Joan Banks has inducted another lady Rotarian to the Rotary Club of Rochdale. Maureen had spoken to her good friend Trisha Newmark a few weeks ago to say that she felt it would be nice to put some of her time towards doing Charitable Work
Trisha, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Padiham, suggested that she should join a local Rotary club and so she and her husband, Richard Newmark who is President of the Rotary Club of Padiham arranged to visit the Rochdale club and to bring Maureen as a visitor.
Maureen, who has for more than 20 years lived on Petrel Close Bamford, must have liked what she saw as she has attended almost every meeting of the club since then and when asked if she wanted to join did not take much persuasion.
She used to work as a draftsperson for Civil Engineers and more recently worked for Bury MBC. She visits the Gym four days a week and is a keen gardener. She will join the club’s Vocational Service Committee.
After she was made a member Maureen thanked the club for electing her and promised to work hard at the clubs projects.
