District 1280 22nd Annual Conference
24th to 26th October 2008 at Southport
This year’s Conference was held in Southport under the guidance of District Governor Graham Jackson and proved to be a great success inspite of wet and windy weather on the Saturday.
Our party of 25 were comfortably accommodated in the Ramada Plaza Hotel which is linked to the Convention Centre which avoided the wet weather. There are excellent parking facilities under the hotel which had opened to live customers for the first time. It was also the Conference Hotel which enabled us to rub shoulders with the top brass and official guests.
There were many highlights. The presentation by John Peters, Gulf War Pilot, the talk about the work of the Toy Library and the presentation by the District 2241 GSE Team lead by Rtn Magda lorga RC lasi 200, The entertainment by Hanky Park and, of course, the Saturday Night with Alvin Stardust being just some which come to mind.
There are photographs in the gallery on this site. Conference is always an excellent opportunity to recognise that we are part of a world wide organisation and to get to know our own members so much better. Well done to the conference organiser Rtn David Ellis.
